Williamson Design Florist Ltd started from a flower shop in Edinburgh, more than 80 years on and Williamson’s is now Scotland’s and the UK’s largest, and longest established independent retail florist, Williamson’s is owned by the Williamson family with three generations of family actively involved in the day to day running of the business supported by 75 dedicated members of staff.

Without its dedicated staff, past and present, and its dedicated customers Williamsons would not be where they are after more than 80 years, for this the family thank you.

Neil Williamson is the chairman of Williamson Design Florist and founder of the company.

Myra Williamson, Neils Wife is a Director in the company and is still very involved at managment level of Williamsons, Myra can be found moving between branches and seen through so many changes in the business, Myra was also the first ( and only) Chairwoman of interflora British Unit.

Jim Williamson, Neil & Myra’s son is Managing Director of the company, he bases himself at the core of the company’s activities at our head office and garden centre in Livingston just outside Edinburgh.

Carol Williamson, Neil & Myra’s daughter is the Retail Director at Williamson’s, she is based in the North of Scotland and heads up all our retail flower shops.

Andrew Williamson Carol’s son is the newest Director at Williamson’s, he travels between all our Flower Shops in Scotland and brings new generation ideas to Williamson’s.

Alan Williamson is Jim’s Cousin and is also head of distribution to all our retail flower shops, “If you want it he will get it for you”.

Billy Williamson is Jim’s 2nd cousin and is based at our Garden Centre and is our aquatic specialist and is the one to speak to if you require any gardening products pushed out to our flower shops in Scotland.

Margaret Williamson is Jim’s aunt and on site to sort out and allocate the flower deliveries that arrive from all over the world at Williamson’s, to deliver in the evening our fresh flowers to all our flower shops.

Harry Williamson Carols son is now a qualified Chartered Accountant, but can be found here at Williamson’s at peak times along with Jim’s son Kieran who is currently studing at Stirling university, so we can safely say that Williamson’s is really a family business !.

Having been born and brought up on the site, the business is you could say “in the blood”. Fourth generation within the industry, Jim has personally taken the business to dizzying heights of success. Qualify with distinction in city & guilds floristry examination, the youngest to hold the National Diploma of the Society of Floristry in the UK, and win the Scottish Florist of The Year competition in Leeds Town Hall. and was selected to represent the United Kingdom in the World Cup of Floristry on two occasions in Tokyo Japan and in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. This competition is held every 4 years and Jim gained Sixth place in the world on both occasions, he went on to become the youngest ever to win the British florist of the year award.

Jim has had enormous influence on the florist industry and its development of design led floristry over the years, having contributed to industry standards and designed for many worldwide design publications.

More recently he has devoted his expertise along with his sister Carol to expanding the company to now be the largest independent retail florist in the country. Much of this expansion has been driven by the need to deliver quality products of good design to our customers throughout the central belt of Scotland, the Lothian’s and in to the North of Fife, Perthshire and most recently Dundee and Angus. Many of our branches have been long established florist businesses with whom we had a good relationship to the benefit of our customers. On the retirement of some of these businesses we have stepped in, to continue the businesses to the benefit of our customers so that we may offer an exceptional standard throughout a large part of the country.
